Manali - Leh 3 Days 4 Nights

Manali – Leh 4 Days 3 Nights

One of the most popular Jeep Safaris that take you through beautiful hi-altitude desert landscape of wind eroded mountains and vast plains. The drive involves the crossing of 4 mountain passes. On this journey you get to see both lush green alpine valleys and awesome hi-altitude mountain deserts. The road goes through the Pir Panjal, Great Himalayan, Zanskar and Ladakh mountain ranges of the West Himalayas. An unforgettable journey with spectacular views.

Day 1: Arrive Manali and check into your hotel. Day free to explore the sights. We take you to the 500 year old Hadimba Devi Temple resting in a thick grove of gigantic Deodar trees; then it’s on to Vashisht across the River Beas where you can have a dip in the healing hot springs; a visit to the Buddhist Monastery in the market completes our day tour. Evening free to stroll along the Mall selling all kinds of handicrafts. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Today we start early and after crossing the 13,050 ft high Rohtang Pass enter the valley of Lahaul. Our drive is along the River Chandra with views of towering mountains and glaciers. By late afternoon we arrive at Keylong a small town, which is also the district headquarters. Check into our hotel and then send the evening walking around this quaint little town with its excellent views of the Pir Panjal range of mountains.

Day 3: Drive north on the Manali-Leh Highway. You get to see some of the most breath taking landscapes that the Western Himalayas can offer. The scenery gets more stark and barren as we climb up to the 16,500-foot high Baralacha La the second mountain pass on our journey. From the pass beautiful views of meadows and snow-capped mountains can be seen. By early evening we reach the small hamlet of Sarchu with its many tented camps set on a large plateau. We stay here in a comfortable, well-furnished two-bedded tent for the night.

Day 4: After crossing the Lachulung La pass – and the Tanglang La pass. We descend into the Indus Valley. En-route we drive through an extensive 45 Km long Morey Plains one of the highest plateaus in the Western Himalayas. Here you get a chance to see the Tibetan Wild Ass – the Kyang, playful marmots that keep popping out of their numerous burrows dotting the plateau; and maybe even spot a lone wolf scurrying up a hillside besides flocks of Pashmina sheep and Ibex grazing quietly near a hillside. By late evening we enter Leh with its quaint bazaars and green pockets of houses where we check into our hotel.
